Escuela Spotlight: Meet Mr. Adam

Now in his second year with Escuela, Mr. Adam took some time out from the job he loves so much to chat with us about his childhood dreams of being a lion tamer, his passion for napping, and his personal playlist...

Where are you originally from?

I was born at 4:31am at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, here in Denver, Colorado. I lived at 948 Logan Street when I was born. Eighteen years later I moved to 12th and Logan, just two blocks away!

What was your "Dream Job" when you were in elementary school?

I remember wanting to be a lion tamer, I also always had my art desk where I colored and created.

What did you study in college?

Music, Physics of Sound, Humanistic Psychology, Art, Calculus, Swing Dancing, Audio Production, Bicycles, Sleeping

When did you join the Escuela de Guadalupe Staff?

I joined the Escuela team during the Fall of 2014. Escuela's mission is something I strongly believe in and I am enthusiast about every aspect of the program--from the dual language Catholic environment to my role as the art and music teacher. I don’t think I could have found a better school in Denver… I am extremely grateful.

What is your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part about teaching is the feeling of helping others achieve their full potential. I really love the kids and it is amazing to see them grow and mature.

What do you do during your free time, outside of work? Favorite sports or hobbies?

My life outside of work revolves around yoga, music and art. I am also incredibly good at taking naps--sometimes for as briefly as five minutes. My grandpa was a professional napper and my dad has won napping awards so I guess it is something that runs in the family...

Favorite songs/albums/artists?

Dr. Seuss (Cartoonist/Artist), Claude Debussy (Classical Composer), September by Earth, Wind and Fire (Song), Amelie (Movie), Alex Grey (Visionary Artist), Abbey Road by The Beatles (Album)
